Philthee's Barbecued Bean Medley

1 15 oz. can of each Bush’s beans:
Great Northern
Large Butter Bean
Red Kidney
4 slices hickory smoked bacon in pieces fried crisp
4 slices hickory smoked bacon fried medium
1 small red onion, chopped
1 small red and green bell pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
¼ cup spicy brown mustard
½ cup favorite barbecue sauce
3 tblsp. brown sugar OR 5 tblsp. molasses
a few shakes hot sauce to taste.

Drain can of red kidney beans and then dump all beans in 9x13 foil pan. Mix.
Fry bacon pieces until crisp, remove and allow to drain on paper towels.
Pour out all but a few tablespoons of bacon grease and add onions, peppers, and garlic to sauté for about 5-6 minutes.
Add this mix and the bacon pieces to the beans.
In a cup mix mustard, barbecue sauce, and hot sauce. Pour into beans along with brown sugar. Mix this mess well.

Lay 4 slices medium fried bacon across bean mix and put pan in smoker for about an hour or until thick and rich.
Use hickory or pecan wood for smoke.
Also can be heated thru in 300 degree oven for about 45 minutes but is best if cooked in smoker along with whatever you’re cooking there.
