Drunk Chicken

What's a Drunk Chicken Roost?

If you like Beer Can Chicken, my friend Buster has invented the BEST cooker out there!

Reasons why I believe this is a great product:
Stability: Whether you are cooking one or four, this unit will not tip over
Quality: Made from stainless steel in the USA
Functionality: The handle design and assembly are well thought out
Clean up: Cleaning this unit is a breeze - Just soak then scrub
Storage: Breaks down and stores in it's box

Most of all, I cooked the BEST beer can chickens I have ever cooked on this unit.
(and I have cooked a LOT of chickens)

Set Up

I wanted to do 4 chickens at once, but when I went to the store, all they
had were 4.5 lb birds. So I cooked two. If you are going to cook 4 birds,
they need to be in the 3 - 3.5 lb range so they won't touch while cooking.

I usually use a can opener and put two extra holes in the top of the cans
to allow for more air circulation. I also added about a tablespoon of minced
garlic to each half empty can.

After washing and drying, I greased down the birds with a light coating of
vegetable oil and a heavy dose of kosher salt and coarse ground black pepper.

Time to Cook

I have my grill set up for an indirect cook.
I used a handful of apple wood chips for a little smoke.
After preheating the grill to around 350, the birds go on.
I rotated the grill 45 degrees every 30 minutes or so.

After a couple of hours, these birds were perfect!
Self basted and cooked to a beautiful golden brown.

After removing from the grill, be sure to let them "rest" for 15 minutes.
These were the best chickens I have cooked yet. Simple and delicious!
The skin was "papery" crisp and the meat was moist and delicious.
